Carpets!!

Today is a BIG day for me in Kabul because I just bought my first carpet! It's about 3'x5' and made of a silk-wool blend. The silk was dyed with saffron for the orange coloring. It was $400, which seemed really expensive to me, but I have no idea how much it would cost elsewhere. Regardless, it's my birthday present to myself :)

Also, here is a picture of the old section of Kabul taken from my car. It's a terrible picture, but it's interesting to see some of the old buildings from the early 20th century. The buildings are built along the Kabul River, which is practically dammed up with trash.
